FAQ’s
WHEN SHOULD I TAKE MY HYPNOBIRTHING COURSE?
Scheduling your course between 20-30 weeks of your pregnancy is recommended. However, we all know that life isn’t perfect. If you’ve found HypnoBirthing later in your pregnancy (30-38 weeks), I’d suggest enrolling in The Energetic Course. If you think you need something more tailored to your situation, we can curate a course together to best suit your needs and timing. I’d be happy to customize the course material based on your needs and time frame.
WHAT TRAINING DO YOU HAVE?
I am a certified Hypnobirthing instructor through Love Your Birth Training Academy which is a fully accredited and FEDANT approved Hypnobirthing school based in the UK. I’m also a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT200hr) and bring elements of my Yoga Teacher Training into my courses.
I can’t decide which course would be best for me:
Please connect with me and I can help you select a course based n your situation, timing & desires!
WHAT MATERIALS WILL I RECEIVE?
Once you enroll, you will be sent your lovely HypnoBirthing workbook by mail that is filled with the course content, imagery, positive birth stories and resources. Trust me, it’s dreamy!
DID YOU USE HYPNOBIRTHING DURING YOUR PREGNANCIES and birth?
Absolutely! I took a HypnoBirthing course with my partner during my first pregnancy in 2022. I decided to have an unmedicated home birth with my first daughter and felt the techniques I learned held me in a safe and calming space to birth her.
My experience transformed me and led me to want to share positive and empowering birth support and education to other pregnant women.
I am currently pregnant with my second child and am re-familiarizing myself as a student, practicing hypnobirthing techniques and listening to hypnobirthing meditations regularly.
HOW DO YOU ENSURE MY BIRTH PARTNER IS INVOLVED?
If you haven’t already, check out my page created specifically for birth partners, go read it now! It’ll help shape the expectations and understanding of how important the birth partner’s role is and how much of an impact they can have. After the course, birth partners will have a clear understanding of their role, be ready with tangible tools and know how to be the best advocate to the birthing mother. The courses also serve as a space to cultivate connection where you spend dedicated time and energy to talk about your growing bump and growing family.
SITTING FOR 2-3 HOURS IS JUST NOT REALISTIC FOR My pregnant body:
Movement is essential during all stages of pregnancy, and I encourage you to listen to what your body needs. Sit, stand, walk, crawl, bounce on your birth ball, complete your Miles Circut, do Spinning babies, get outside! Constant breaks are also weaved throughout to ensure movement and optimal positioning for you and your baby.
IS HYPNOBIRTHING ONLY FOR VAGINAL BIRTHS?
This is a common misconception. Hypnobirthing is for ALL births. The primary goal of hypnobirthing is to create a calm internal dialogue. This down regulates the body’s nervous system, keeping you relaxed so your body can do what it needs to do. A positive caesarean birth is all about being calm and focusing on meeting your baby, just like any other birth! Abdominal births (Caesarean sections) are simply another mode of birth and if they are right for you and your baby, you can make them a hugely positive experience.
how is hypnobirthing used in caesarean births (c-sections/abdominal births)?
Hypnobirthing helps your mind to get to a place of focus, so your body can relax and do what it’s meant to do. This applies for c-section births as well and works in the exact same way. In fact, it may even be more beneficial in these types on environments because typically there are some restrictions in the environment so your internal dialogue and ability to get your mind to a place of calm is paramount to your birth experience.
In additional to the benefits of using hypnobirthing techniques, many hospital and practitioners are becoming more familiar with requests from families to have a “gentle caesareans” bringing elements of vaginal births such as immediate skin to skin contact, delayed cord clamping and lowering drapes into the surgical environment.
Other approaches taught in my courses include knowing your options and feeling confident when advocating for yourself or your partner. This knowledge and insight is especially important in more medicalized environments. You will gain the confidence and trust in yourself that you and your support partner can make decisions from a confident and informed place, leading to a birth story that is entirely yours, instead of feeling powerless.
HOW DO YOU GET TO KNOW ME (OR US) BEFORE THE COURSE:
My desire for this course is that it cultivates a sense of safety and connection. Whether that’s between you and I, you and your birth partner, you and the other expecting parents, or a combination of any of the above! My intake form is a comprehensive tool which helps me ensure I focus on areas of interest and concern. Private sessions take it one step further and are curated specifically for you and your birth partner.
IN PERSON VS ONLINE CLASSES:
Whether in person, or online, HypnoBirthing classes offer birthing people a community or people to connect with who are going through a similar life experience at the same time as you. Both styles of class delivery helps to create a structured time for you and your birthing partner to focus entirely on preparing to welcome your baby into the world. This can happen in either setting and I ensure my online classes still have the feel of a connected, relaxing space, even when we aren’t physically together. Meditations and affirmations are done in the comfort of your own home and you can slip right into bed after!
lamaze vs hypnobirthing:
Lamaze is a childbirth education program centered around the physical experience whereas HypnoBirthing combines the physical, mental and emotional layers into it’s practices which provides a well-rounded and comprehensive toolkit.
